While you have the option to upgrade to a more powerful motorbike, it’s not really needed since the terrain doesn’t allow for high speeds.
We’ll start our journey from Ha Giang to Tam Son, passing through the rural villages of the Tay hill tribes, giving you a glimpse into their daily lives and cultures. Next, we’ll visit Thon Tha, a village rich in history and tradition.
The tour will take us through the picturesque Bac Sum Pass and Heaven Gate, where you’ll be awestruck by the panoramic views of the Twin Mountains and Tam Son Town. We’ll also have the chance to explore Lung Khue Cave, offering breathtaking views of the region.
In the afternoon, we’ll ride to Dong Van Town, Here, you’ll get to learn about the ethnic group’s culture and enjoy their delicious cuisine.
Day 2: Dong Van - Meo Vac (140 Km)
After breakfast, we’ll ride along one of the most beautiful mountain passes for about 30 km to visit Lung Cu village. There, we’ll climb the 30-meter tall monument on Lung Cu Peak, which is topped with a large Vietnamese flag and offers stunning panoramic views.
We’ll then ride through Lo Lo village and stop at the border between Vietnam and China, where you can see the two countries divided by the Nho Que river.
We’ll return to Dong Van for lunch and continue our exploration of Ma Pi Leng Pass, one of the four major passes on the Truong Son range. This pass is renowned for its steep cliffs and breathtaking views.
At the top, we’ll stop so you can take pictures of the entire panorama of Ma Pi Leng, where the majestic mountains and Nho Que river might leave you feeling overwhelmed.
We’ll then continue our journey through thousands of conical limestone peaks and deep, winding valleys.
Rest and dinner at Meo Vac hotel.
Day 3: Meo Vac - Du Gia Village (120 Km))
Today’s ride takes us through charming villages and stunning mountain landscapes, with a refreshing stop at a hidden waterfall for a quick swim.
If we visit on a Sunday morning, we can experience the vibrant market where ethnic people, mainly Mong and Tay, sell cattle like goats, pigs, and cows. This market is not just for trading goods but also for maintaining social relations.
Our day ends in Du Gia, where a welcoming homestay awaits, surrounded by lush rice terraces. We’ll join fellow travelers for a festive evening of delicious home-cooked food prepared by our local hosts. Don’t miss the chance to try “Happy Water,” the region’s unique corn wine, which is sure to add to the merriment!
Relax and unwind under the stars before another exciting day begins.
Day 4: Du Gia - Ha Giang (140 Km)
Rise and shine for the final day of our Self-Ride Motorbike Ha Giang Loop Tour!
We’ll hop back on our motorbikes and ride through the stunning limestone karsts, navigating intriguing lanes with sheer slopes. This road is quiet, with little traffic or other travelers, and the landscape is dominated by conical peaks and devoid of trees.
You’ll gain deep insights into how the locals live and work in such a challenging environment. We’ll stop at Lung Tam Ethnic Minority Village to learn about their traditional brocade weaving skills.
Next, we’ll pass through a stark, rock-strewn limestone valley on our way back to Ha Giang, enjoying some amazing mountain road stretches. We’ll arrive in Ha Giang before sunset and check into the hotel of your choice. Alternatively, we can help arrange a bus to Hanoi.
